The O’Malley Foundation National Concerto Competition
We are proud to announce that the O'Malley Foundation has become the new sponsor of a National Concerto Competition, hosted annually by the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory of Highwood Illinois. This prestigious event, previously known as the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, will now be titled the O'Malley Foundation National Concerto Competition, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to fostering the musical talents of young musicians.
Midwest Young Artists Conservatory is proud and honored to work with the O’Malley Foundation in continuing to offer the National Concerto Competition for talented and dedicated young musicians. All aspects of the O’Malley Concerto Competition will remain the same with the exception that we will only have a live, not virtual option. It will still be held at the MYAC Center in Highwood, Illinois on December 29 and 30 and will be awarding both monetary awards and performance opportunities for winners. Dr. Allan Dennis, Founder and President of MYAC, stated excitedly:
The O’Malley Foundation is honored to support this national competition, which annually features the highest levels of musical excellence. The arts—from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel to Bach and Mahler—represent humanity’s timeless quest to touch the Divine. As disillusionment increasingly mars our modern society, we remember the words of Leonard Bernstein: ‘This will be our reply… to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.’ To that end, the Foundation looks forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with MYAC on this event. We wish contestants the best of luck!
Leo O’Malley, Board Member of the O’Malley Foundation and MYAC alumni, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating:
